CityHitcher is your spontaneous carpooling for short distances. Carpooling for short distances, share the road and the cost. We bring people together who want to go in the same direction.
Unlike other providers, CityHitcher brings people together on short notice and also on short trips and unlike car sharing, city scooter etc. we do not bring more vehicles into the city traffic.
For passengers, CityHitcher is a convenient and faster alternative to public transport. No changing buses, no "running after the bus". The app finds the best match of driver and passenger, and once both parties have confirmed the ride, it's time to go. And when you switch from your own car to a ride-share, you not only save money, but also the search for a parking space.
You can share your travel costs and make a big contribution to environmental protection. Because you don't put more vehicles on the road, as with car sharing or scooter sharing. You are flexible because you can enter your journey spontaneously and do not have to take detours. Together, the ride through the city is also a bit nicer, isn't it?
At the moment, we are still busy preparing CityHitcher. Starting in May, you will be able to use the app in our test area in downtown Berlin and in the Adlershof district.
You can download and use the app completely free of charge.
For short journeys of up to 10 km, you pay 25 cents per km, but at least €1.25. For a 10-kilometer trip through the city, that would be €2.50 for you. This is about one tenth of a cab and comparable to a one-way ticket for public transport. For longer trips of 10 kilometers or more, it becomes even cheaper per extra kilometer.
For short distances, you get between 20 and 30 cents per kilometer, depending on the number of passengers. However, you get at least 1 € per trip. For distances over 10 km the price for passengers is reduced and therefore also the share for the driver. CityHitcher wants to help you to share your travel costs with fellow passengers even on short distances. Because of the Passenger Transportation Act, the total fare paid must not exceed the operating costs of the ride. This means that city hitcher cannot help you make a profit on your ride.
You can enter your trip within seconds with just a few clicks. You can do this either spontaneously at the moment of departure or in advance. The app automatically finds the best combinations of drivers and passengers in real time and sets your meeting point.
CityHitcher receives 5 cents per km for the arranged ride, for rides over 10 km this value decreases. This is necessary for us to run the platform and continue to offer you a great service.
